I think one of my first posts on this blog was about broken relationships, where I posted this famous quote on love by Liam Neeson. Through tears, this quote soothed a wound, it gave me hope and a sense of optimism, but now, I find that it’s completely false. Love does hurt. And by saying that I mean, that none of those other emotions, rejection, loss, loneliness, and envy would cause us any pain in the absence of love. I don’t miss people I don’t love. The more I love someone, the more rejection, envy, loneliness and loss hurts. So, I definitely believe Love hurts.
….but on the flip side, because I am painfully striving to keep my heart full and vibrant, I also believe that without love, we cannot feel the height of joy, elation, passion, and compassion. And a host of other wonderful emotions! And that, my friends, is living! Giving and receiving, feeling, hurting, loving, celebrating… As much as the hurt sucks, I’ll take it so that I can also experience the joy that comes with feeling wanted, cherished, and desired. Love also heals. And, on a side note, I truly believe the best way to heal yourself is to give exactly what you need to others.
…and I’ll write more on that later…it’s brewing in this completely imprfect, some might say f-ed up, spinning, non-stop, mind of mine…
